About Shri Vijayeendra Teertharu (Kumbakonam)
Shri Vijayeendra Teertharu, also known as Vijayeendra Gurusarvabhoumaru, was one of the greatest pontiffs and scholars of the Dvaita tradition. Born as Shri Vittalacharyaru, he was an extraordinary disciple of Shri Vyasaraja Teertharu, from whom he mastered the Vedas, Vedanta, Nyaya, Mimamsa, and the renowned 64 arts (Chatushashti Kalas). Later, under the guidance of Shri Surendra Teertharu, he became the pontiff of the Shri Matha and was given the name Shri Vijayeendra Teertha.

Shri Vijayeendra Teertharu dedicated his life to preserving and propagating Madhwa Siddhanta. He was a prolific author, a fearless debater, and successfully defended Dvaita philosophy against leading scholars of his time. His immense scholarship strengthened the Madhwa tradition throughout South India, especially in Tamil Nadu. He personally guided and trained Shri Sudheendra Teertharu, who later became the guru of Shri Raghavendra Teertharu (Mantralaya Rayaru). After entrusting the Peetha to Shri Sudheendra Teertharu, he entered Brindavana at Kumbakonam on the banks of the sacred River Kaveri.
