Sripadarajaru, also known as Shri Lakshminarayana Teertharu, is one of the revered saints of the Madhwa Guru Parampara and an important Acharya in the Dvaita Vedanta tradition. He was renowned for his scholarship, devotion to Shri Hari and contribution to the propagation of Tattvavada.
Shri Sripadarajaru was born as Lakshminarayana in Abbur, near Channapatna in Karnataka. He received spiritual guidance from Shri Swarnavarna Teertharu and further studied under great scholars of the Madhwa tradition. Because of his profound knowledge and spiritual scholarship, he came to be revered by the name Sripadarajaru.
He made Mulbagal an important centre of learning and spiritual activity. Shri Sripadarajaru also played a significant role in the development of Haridasa literature and devotional music. His devotional compositions were written with the ankita or mudra “Ranga Vittala”.
